Ostravské výstavy a.s. trading company belongs to five most significant Czech fair administrations. The 100% owner of the company is Statutory Town of

Ostrava.

Its primary task which was specified at the foundation was restoration and preservation of exhibition activities in Ostrava at the Černá louka city fairground and reintegration of this area into the cultural and social city life.

Activities of the trading company are focused especially on organizing of exhibitions, fairs, congresses and conferences and it is also engaged in the administration of property of the Statutory Town of Ostrava, particularly of the Černá louka fairground premises, Miniuni miniature town and Slezskoostravský hrad. Each year around 20 exhibitions and fairs and 70 conferences and working seminars take place at the fairground.

Výstaviště Černá louka (Černá Louka Fairground)
The fairground is situated in the city centre near Masarykovo náměstí (Masaryk's Square). Within the six-hectare premises, there are three exhibition halls and a grassy area which offers to both visitors and city center residents a place where they can relax. The main exhibition hall is the Exhibition Hall A with the available exhibition area of 6300 m2. The Exhibition Hall C is used for lease of sales and office spaces. In the Exhibition Hall G, a golf arena which serves for golf trainings was established. There are also Pohádkový sklep strašidel (Subterranean Fairy-Tale World), city market hall, playground and parking building at the fairground. Each year about 95 exhibitions, conferences, seminars and other cultural and social events take place at the
Ostrava fairground.

Slezskoostravský hrad (
Silesian Ostrava Castle)
The first reference to the existence of the Slezskoostravský hrad is from
2nd August 1297. The purpose and function of the castle was the protection of the provincial path heading from Opava through Hlučín and Těšín to Krakow. The significance which its owners attributed to the castle is evidenced by the fact that already in the 13th century it was protected by a 4 meter high wall.

In last two decades the castle went through many insensitive reconstruction interventions. Its owners changed a couple of times and in the end it almost fell into ruin. Literally "at the eleventh hour" the castle was bought and returned to the hands of the Statutory Town of Ostrava.

Currently, the Slezskoostravský hrad is administered by the Ostravské výstavy a.s. company. More than 130 events a year including regular marriage ceremonies take place there. Every part of the castle is carefully kept up and leased for various commercial as well as charitable purposes.

Pohádkový sklep strašidel (Subterranean Fairy-Tale World)
For children and all fairy-tales lovers there's a permanent exposition of the fairy-tale world in the premises of Výstaviště Černá louka. In the sub-basement of the fairground there’s a subterranean world of fairies where families can spend a magic afternoon. On your fairy-tale journey you can meet typical Czech fairies such as dwarfs, immured princess, vodyanoy, Old Scratches as well as foreign fairies
- Ice Dragon, elf, pirate’s skeleton. In this way, you can gradually pass through five magic chambers: spider chamber, hell, island of pirates, hall of industry fairies, fairyland and kingdom of ice.

The whole fairy-tale tour is provided with background ghostly noises of shrieks and guffaws and accompanied by guide’s comments which add a mysterious atmosphere of the subterranean fairy-tale world to it.
