What can you see in the castle
CASTLE TOWER (see the photo-gallery)

The castle tower is the highest building of the entire castle complex, at the same time it is an entrance to the premises. In the individual tower floors the visitors can see a permanent exhibition of castle and Ostrava town history, 30-year war history and Hussitism period.

A number of interesting exhibits is waiting for the visitors at the court, e.g. torturing devices, such as a cage, a whipping post, a clog, and others. In the court there is also the castle well, which has never been functional as the castle stood at a rook and thus natural supplies of water into this well were impossible. That is why water had to be always supplied to the castle. The court is also the place for various concerts, fairs, theatre performances and other cultural events.

The castle fortress is located in the court, it is one of the oldest parts of the castle, however it was seriously damaged by insensitive repairs of former owners. You can see there an original brickwork, castle halls with high ceilings, there are also cellars under the entire castle fortress. In 2005 repairs of this part of the castle were completed and visitors thus can see other premises. In the cellars there are large aquariums with a lot of fresh water fish and a museum of witchcraft. In the oldest cellar premises there is a new exposition of torture and a torture chamber. In the top floor there is a large lookout, which offers a beautiful view to Ostravice and Lučina rivers junction and the town center.
